Recently, the forum “Future Energy – Energy industry and job opportunities for electricity students” took place at Hanoi University of Technology (HUST).
As one of the countries with a strong commitment to bring net emissions to zero by 2050 at COP26, Vietnam has been following the world’s energy development trend. It is gradually replacing fossil energy sources (coal, oil) with green and cleaner energy sources (wind, solar, biomass, green hydrogen, methanol…).
At the forum, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Hung, Deputy Head of Department in charge of Energy Economics Department, Institute of Energy (IEVN) shared information on energy transition in the world; the context of energy transition in Vietnam; energy transition scenarios to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 and current new energy technology trends.
Accordingly, the main solutions in terms of new energy technology today include: development of renewable energy (wind, solar); production and use of biofuels, fuels derived from hydrogen; carbon capture, use and storage (CCUS).
However, renewable energy sources pose new challenges for Vietnam in terms of the synchronous development of the grid system, the electricity price mechanism and many other related technical issues. In addition, Vietnam needs to prepare highly qualified human resources for the renewable energy market.
At the forum, students have the opportunity to exchange and exchange with experts about the skills and knowledge needed to develop a career in the energy industry.
Prof. Dr. Le Anh Tuan, Chairman of the Council of Hanoi University of Science and Technology, said that the school is ready to adjust the training program to best meet the aspirations of the students.
Mr. Le Anh Tuan assessed, Future Energy forum is a useful and experiential playground for students. Here, the children have the opportunity to meet and discuss with top managers, experts, scientists, and brothers and sisters who are active in the field of sustainable energy. The knowledge and lessons learned from the forum are important tools for the children to create a future, bring sustainable values to society and the community..
